Scope

This research proposal is intended to investigate how to model collaborative robotic cells for final assembly operation aiming at systems integration and safety validation.

Objectives

The selected candidate will perform systems integration of robotized devices from a real final assembly testbed using virtual commissioning.

Expected Results

A supervisory system will be developed, based on the ROS framework, to provide process control and a Human-Machine Interface (HMI). The research will work with human factors concepts to validate the safety requirements of the Human-Robot-Collaboration cell.

Additional Information

Candidates should also have a solid background on robotics, discrete-event systems modelling and analyses (e.g. Petri Nets Automata), process automation technologies and ROS and empirical methods. Desired additional experience with virtual commissioning and techniques for safety assessment like Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), and System Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) will be valuable.

Note: scholarship FAPESP reference value will apply (https://fapesp.br/valores/bolsasnopais). Possible additional benefits. The scholarship holder must have a full-time dedication. The work must be carried out in person. Location: FLYMOV - ITA Innovation Center, Address: CCM, Praça Marechal Eduardo Gomes, 50 - Vila das Acacias, São José dos Campos - SP - CEP: 12228-900.
